~ An acoustic (not electric) piano is essential. A keyboard is not a substitute for a piano. Students need to practice on a real piano to develop proper technique, coordination, and musical expression and creativity.
~ Daily Practice Requirement
~ I expect students to keep a daily practice log, signed weekly by a parent for the first year. Students are required to practice five days per week. Practice should be regarded as homework.
The discipline of daily practice leads the student to progress and to a sense of accomplishment, which in turn, feeds further motivation and progress. Parents are expected to be actively involved in helping and encouraging students throughout this process. I believe that comparisons should be avoided, while a parent’s positive expressions of enjoyment and encouragement bolster the student.
